Artist's Description
This is my largest Canada piece. I will be bringing it to Bronte Art in the Park on August 7th! 16"x20"x2" I filled the Canada 150 flag with some of the wild animals we have. It is so wonderful to have an idea and have it work out just as I saw it in my mind. Artwork #53 in my challenge. Thank-you @jasondimichele for the moose photo reference and @jonhurdwildimage for the heron reference! I love the song Where the Wild Things Are and the children's book of the same name so I thought it would be fun to name it that. I hope you like it. Contact me for art lessons. This is a mixed media piece but mostly watercolour.
About Laurel Best
I have a passion for nature and wildlife and creating art. I have been drawing as long as I can remember and spent many hours as a teenager capturing my favourite pictures in pencil. Art has always been a part of my family. My grandmother, Jean Monkhouse was an oil painter and art teacher. She was my first art teacher, and I will always remember painting with her in her cottage in Atikokan. My dad, Lawrence Monkhouse is a professional photographer. I sell my original artwork on Etsy! www.Etsy.com/shop/LaurelBestArt Follow me on Instagram @laurelbestart You can find me on www.facebook.com/LBestArt.
